News has changed. Fifty years ago there were three news channels on television, and if you wanted in-depth news, you read the papers. Now there are literally hundreds of thousands of independent journalists livestreaming on social media, and many of those are shills, trolls, and bots. Thanks to deepfakes we no longer believe in even in what we can see, and thanks to ChatGPT we’re not even sure if what we’re reading was written by a human being at all.
The fact remains that important things still happen. Who decides what’s important and what’s not? The mainstream media. Even though thousands of new stories break into existence every moment, it’s still the traditional leaders—the Times, the Post, the Associated Press, Reutters, CNN—that emphasize some stories, and bury others.
But “other” important news exists. News that’s never brought to your attention, even with all the varied modern sources and formats we have now. There are many reasons for it, ranging from simple innocent lack of adequate resources for proper investigation, to unintentional media collusion, to intentional warping of the news in the name of ideology and political correctness, to outright government propaganda and misinformation. It happens all the time, and now, more than ever, it’s happening at an unprecedented, ever-accelerating rate.
What does it mean? It means there’s a whole lot of ‘other news’ that you’ve been missing.
Why does it matter? Because if our freedoms are deteriorating daily. Otherwise patriotic citizens are unwittingly surrendering the very basis of our democracy, our Constitutional rights, at an alarming rate. Freedom of the Press is under attack not so much owing to Government intervention, but to the public’s acceptance of a weak, ineffective, chaotic and biased press.
But only the Press stands between the people and out-of-control government. Only if people have all the facts can they possibly make proper determinations.
If you’re happy to let big government and corporate concerns do your thinking, then you won’t find much to interest you here. But if you’d like to have all the facts, and understand issues more completely in order to form a more accurate and independent view, then you’ve come to the right place.
Our Mission? To boldly go where Establishment News Media Organizations don’t. To the stories you don’t hear about, and the other side of the stories that you do.
In other words, we intend stop the spin, point out the propaganda, emphasize the de-emphasized, illuminate the ignored, submit the omitted, reveal the other half of half-truths, uncover untruths and disband the media bandwagon.
Just because TV news is presented on a flat screen doesn’t mean it has to be one sided. News is multi-dimensional and should present a deeper view to be fully understood. Issues must be examined from all relevant perspectives to reach a meaningful conclusion.
If government-supplied information remains unexamined and unchallenged, then news media become no more than an outlet for propaganda. If governments aren’t aggressively questioned, abuses of power are inevitable. Under no circumstances can government ever be allowed to mislead, deceive or lie to its citizens.
Nor is a shortage of airtime any excuse to erase vitally important facts to better suit news directors’ personal or corporate agendas. Minority opinions deserve to be heard and considered. All people have an equal right to the truth.
Is everything reported by conventional news sources incorrect or incomplete. No, not everything. Thankfully, Mass Media is not always wrong. Occasionally they can present genuinely original and alternative perspectives. We’re not here to oppose every story with a counter-narrative.
But when pressure from either corporate profit or ideological biases directly or indirectly sway reporters away from objectivity; when government propaganda is rubber-stamped and disseminated without meaningful examination; when the fervors of mob mentality or my-country-right-or-wrong nationalism takes over; when lazy, head-in-the-sand, peer-pressured bandwagon journalism is at work; or when grossly incomplete or inaccurate reporting become evident, we will be there. Or rather, we will be here, to see that you’re supplied with the missing pieces you need to accurately make up your own mind for yourself, instead of allowing governments, news directors and public relations experts do it for you.
