Urlacher: Illinois Politicians Have Spent Billions On Illegals, That Money Could’ve Gone To Keeping The Bears | Video

Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher criticizes Illinois lawmakers for not caring about the team, which is moving to a stadium in Hammond, Indiana, 30 minutes south of the city.

BRIAN URLACHER: I just don’t see how as a state, was it legislator, governor, city mayor, how you can let this team leave the state of Illinois or even be a topic of discussion. You know, you do what you have to do to keep the Bears there. The fans, we have some of the best fans in the world for any sport.

If I was those guys, I would probably do what I had to do to keep them in the state of Illinois. Maybe not at Soldier Field because that was already off the table, but they had Arlington Heights planned out. They have the land bought already.

Find a way to keep them there and they just don’t care. They’re putting their money in other places that maybe aren’t as important. You know, you look at all the money they’ve given to illegal immigrants and the money they’ve set aside for that.

It’s like two and a half, three billion dollars that they’ve spent on the illegal immigrants. That money could be for the Bears. Could be trying to keep them, not for the Bears, but trying to keep their stadium in town instead of keeping people who aren’t supposed to be in our country here.

Anything that President Trump does, I’m on board with. I don’t know if he’s going to do it great. If not, he has a pecking order he’s going to follow. Whatever he does and everything he’s done so far has been great, so just keep it up.

FOX NEWS DIGITAL: Would you like to see him try and intervene and maybe keep the Bears in Chicago?

URLACHER: I don’t think he has that. I mean, he probably has all the power in the world. He could do that if he wanted to, but I don’t know if that’s in his realm or not. I mean, he is smart about everything he does, business-wise. He’s a pretty sport-savvy guy as well, but I’m not sure he could have any impact on that.

FOX NEWS DIGITAL: Yeah, probably not. I don’t know.

URLACHER: You never know. His words carry some weight, but maybe not as much in Illinois. Indiana, for sure. He’s probably excited they’re going to Indiana. It’s a great state, big red state, so tax-wise, it’s going to be great for the Bears.

FOX NEWS DIGITAL: Other than taxes, what are some of the positives you think that might come for the Bears in this?

URLACHER: Well, they’re going to own the stadium or they’ll have a better chance. Business-wise, it makes sense because they’re going to make more money because they do not own Soldier Field. So all the money that they make on Sundays or whatever, some of it goes to the city, some of it goes to the Bears. What that divvy is, I don’t know, but I think financially, it would be more beneficial for them to go to Hammond.
