Whatever this is, it has to be reported as historic. That’s what they’ll call it—high-level talks, breakthroughs, diplomacy in motion. A U.S. delegation led by Vice President JD Vance sitting face-to-face with Iranian officials for the first time in decades. Headlines will frame it as progress. A turning point. A moment of calm after chaos.
But history doesn’t happen in a vacuum—and neither do these talks.
Because when you step back from the language of diplomacy, what you actually see is something far more unstable. A global order cracking at the seams. A United States that launched strikes, escalated a regional war, and is now scrambling for an exit. An Israel deep in continuous assault, widening conflict while negotiations supposedly unfold. And a world watching as the rules that once governed power, restraint, and consequence seem to dissolve in real time.
In a United States system this unstable, nothing truly means anything.
We’ve seen versions of this before—in Russia, in collapsing states, in governments where unpredictability becomes policy. And now that same volatility defines the moment: an American president issuing threats of annihilation while claiming victory, even as the battlefield tells a far more complicated story.
This moment is once again defined by a mentally unhinged president—one who governs not through strategy or diplomacy, but through bullying, spectacle, and contradiction. Even as so-called historic talks unfold, Donald Trump cannot help but revert to form: threats, insults, and a rhetoric so crude it undermines the very negotiations his administration is attempting to stage.
On the very day diplomacy is supposed to take center stage, Trump took to social media to posture and provoke, declaring, “We’re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz as a favor to Countries all over the World, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, and many others.”
The language is telling—framing military escalation as a “favor,” as if global stability were a transactional gesture rather than a shared necessity.
In another post, he claimed Iran was “losing big” before veering into rhetoric that looked to mock Islam itself, writing: “[T]heir longtime ‘Leaders’ are no longer with us, praise be to Allah! The only thing they have going is the threat that a ship may ‘bunk’ into one of their sea mines…”
This is not diplomacy. This is not leadership.
It is the continuation of a pattern—relentless bullying wrapped in banal, incoherent language, where war is reduced to taunts and entire cultures are invoked as punchlines. And it raises the unavoidable question: what does “peace” even mean when it is being negotiated alongside this kind of rhetoric?
Because you cannot claim to pursue stability while simultaneously fueling the very instability you pretend to resolve.
And then there’s China.
If even part of the intelligence is true—that Beijing is quietly stepping in, supplying, signaling, or simply positioning itself—then this isn’t just a regional conflict anymore. It’s a shift in global power. A test of whether U.S. dominance can still dictate outcomes—or whether it’s being slowly, strategically blunted.
Because from another angle, one Washington refuses to admit, Iran isn’t losing. And behind the language of ceasefire and diplomacy, the machinery of war keeps moving—China preparing arms, alliances hardening, and the next conflict already taking shape. The multipolar world forcing itself into existence.
Here is Vance a few days ago before he left for the trip, openly discussing how the U.S. has “a lot of leverage”—economic and military—and warning of “serious consequences” if Iran steps out of line. Days later, that same posture of threat has turned into negotiation, rebranded as “historic” diplomacy. Vance of course is not quite a clown, not quite a clone—just a wanna be duplicate spinning in the same circus.

Iran has held its ground. It has leveraged geography, energy choke points, and regional alliances. It has forced the United States into negotiations it once avoided at all costs. And now, at the very moment these talks are being branded “historic,” the reality underneath is harder to ignore:
This is what it looks like when power is contested—and when empire starts to slip.
So yes, call it historic.
But not because it signals peace.
Call it historic because it exposes something deeper: a world where the old order no longer holds, where enemies meet not out of strength but necessity—and where, as we are seeing globally the United States doesn’t fully control how the story ends.
