Netanyahu: No Room for Palestinian State

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a two-state solution that gives Palestine independence is impossible.

“Another principle of the government, of the broad national government that I intend to lead, is that there is no room for two states. Between the sea and the Jordan River, there is no room for two states,” the Israeli leader told reporters on Saturday.

Netanyahu went on to argue that his position is popular among the Israeli people. “Before the war, the public was divided: although in my opinion most of the public was against it, a significant portion was in favor. I think that has changed,” he explained. “That is a basis for agreement. In my opinion, there is much more unity among the public than you see in the Knesset.”

The Palestinians have long been promised their own state. However, Israel has slowly consumed Palestinian territory over decades making a sovereign state increasingly unlikely.

Since the current Israeli government took power in 2022, Tel Aviv has accelerated the process of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. Israel has approved settlements at a record pace. Tel Aviv has also emboldened radicalized settlers who regularly attack Palestinians.

Additionally, Israel is committing a genocide. Israel already holds 60% of Gaza. Earlier this month, Netanyahu said he ordered the IDF to expand its control to 70%.
