Gallrein’s win is the latest victory for candidates endorsed by President Donald Trump against incumbents. In the past month, five Indiana Republican state legislators who voted against redistricting and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who voted to impeach the president after January 6, lost their races after Trump’s intervention.

With a total of over $33 million spent in advertising, the race in Kentucky’s Fourth District was the most expensive congressional primary in American history. Much of Gallrein’s funding in the race against Massie, a prominent critic of Israel, came from pro-Israel PACs.

Massie conceded the race, telling supporters, “We have been honorable the whole time and we are going to stay that way.” Gallrein promised his focus would now be to “advance the president’s and the party’s agenda to put America first and Kentucky always.”
