President Donald Trump said he is willing to take weapons that NATO had bought for Ukraine and send them to the Middle East for the war against Iran.

During a cabinet meeting on Thursday, President Donald Trump was asked about a Washington Post report that weapons that were scheduled to be sent to Ukraine were redirected. He explained the US frequently takes that action.

Reporter: Is the U.S. diverting some munitions that were meant for Ukraine to the Middle East?

“We do that all the time. We have a lot of munitions. Sometimes we take from one and use for another,” Trump explained. The President added that the US is currently not giving Ukraine military aid, but selling American weapons to NATO states that transfer the arms to Kiev.

The Post reported speaking with US officials who said the Department of War was considering taking missile interceptors that were intended to be bought by NATO for Ukraine and redirecting them to the Middle East.

The sources speaking with the outlet said no final decision had been reached.

The President went on to criticize Germany’s response to the war against Iran. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Berlin will not participate in the conflict, and Merz’s Defence Minister, Boris Pistorius, declared, “This is not our war.”

The President said he heard those remarks and responded, “Ukraine is not our war.” Trump has pressured allied nations to form a coalition to force Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran closed the exit to the Persian Gulf in response to a US and Israeli surprise attack on February 28.

However, European leaders have refused to commit to sending their forces to the region. Ukrainian President Zelensky said that Kiev deployed 200 drone experts to the Middle East to aid American anti-drone systems.
