Sen. John Fetterman responded to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani

, when he visits in September for the U.N. General Assembly, for war crimes charges brought by the International Criminal Court.

“You’re a mayor, dude,” Fetterman said during an appearance Monday with Newsmax’s Greta Van Susteren. “Fix some potholes.”

“He’s just a total clown, and it is just for clicks at this point. It’s just pandering to the DSA communists and their friends in New York,” Fetterman said. “The mayor does not direct arrests. The police enforce warrants. There is not a warrant. America is not part of the ICC.”

ZOHRAN MAMDANI: I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague. He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court. And what you will find is that this is an opinion held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: Today, President Trump took to Truth Social and posted, in part, quote: “Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested in any way, shape, or form while in the United States of America. He is fighting against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which recently killed 52,000 innocent protesters and has spent the last 47 years killing American soldiers and others.”

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman joins me. Why is Mamdani making these threats? He doesn’t even have the authority, I don’t believe, to make an arrest like this.

SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN: He’s a total clown. He has the authority to arrest Netanyahu any more than I would have the authority to arrest him if he visited Washington, D.C.

You’re a mayor, dude. Pick up trash, fix some potholes, and really fix the homeless problem in your city. You’re way out of your league. This is irresponsible.

But like I said, he’s just a total clown, and it’s just for clicks at this point. He knows that he has nothing actionable. Now it’s just pandering to the DSA communists and his friends in New York.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: The prime minister is expected in the United States when the U.N. General Assembly opens again in September, so he will be here. What’s interesting is that, in the past, he has been unable to refuel his plane in countries that are signatories to the International Criminal Court. So he’s been strategic in how he gets here. I think he can now come all the way here without refueling. But it is a lot of saber-rattling toward the prime minister. He is expected to be in New York soon.

SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN: It’s not even that. It’s just this cheeseball running his mouth. That’s the thing.

Again, the mayor does not direct arrests. The police enforce warrants. There is not a warrant. America is not part of the ICC.

And now the leader of the ICC was accused of sexual abuse, just like Platner in Maine. There’s no standing. There’s nothing here.

Now he’s just pandering, trying to sound like a tough guy and making these weird threats. He has no standing, and he knows that as well.

…

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: The president is waging this war. Looking at this from 35,000 feet—and you and I have often discussed this—you have Democrats in the House, while of course you’re in the Senate, who are trying to eliminate military aid to Israel.

You have the mayor of New York who now wants to arrest the prime minister. You have students hitting the streets protesting. Basically, they’re antisemitic. It is something I asked you about last week: How do we arrest this? But since we last talked, this anti-Israel sentiment among a portion of the American people has escalated.

SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN: Yeah, of course. I mean, the Democratic Party—I don’t know if you saw that report in Axios. Jeffries’ letter may have flipped people who were on the fence. Without that letter, they could have had 30 to 40 more Democrats vote against Israel. Without a doubt, that would have put that number around 150. Overall, the caucus is, I believe, 211. That could have been a significant majority of them.

I’ve always warned that the Democratic Party is going to become more anti-Israel, and those numbers are going to keep creeping up every time you keep running those kinds of resolutions. We’ve had a similar thing in the Senate. Sanders had measures that were kind of symbolic, and now almost—I believe—80% of us in the caucus voted against Israel.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: I don’t know if you’ve seen that 47-minute GoPro videotape of Hamas slaughtering and killing Israelis—

SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN: They won’t. They won’t watch it. They won’t. If they watched that, they would have to confront what those animals really are and what they’ve done. These are the people who deny that, or some even say that Israel deserved those things. That’s a fact.

This wasn’t a secret video. Those animals filmed it. They were proud of it. They were celebrating it like they had scored a touchdown or something. Some of those people were calling their parents and yelling, “Oh yes, we’ve killed Jews. We’ve killed Jews.” That’s exactly who they are.
