The Iran War ceasefire entered its 56th day Tuesday amid uncertainty about continued peace negotiations.

Iran, in an announcement through Tasnim News Agency, suspended indirect talks with the U.S. Monday morning, stating that “there will be no dialogue until…the immediate halt of [Israel’s] aggressive and brutal military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, and the necessity of a full withdrawal of [Israel] from occupied areas in Lebanon.”

In a Truth Social post Monday afternoon, President Donald Trump wrote that he “had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon” and that he “also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them.” An Israeli official told Israel’s Ynet on Monday morning that Israel’s planned raid of Beirut’s southern suburbs was coordinated with Washington.

Iran’s Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Monday evening that he spoke with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, and indicated that “if the Israeli aggression against Lebanon continues, we will not only halt the path of negotiations, but we will also be in direct confrontation with the enemy.”

Israel’s Defense Minister Israeli Katz said Tuesday at the Defense Export Conference that the occupation of southern Lebanon would continue, saying that “there is no ceasefire” in southern Lebanon.

Israeli drone and airstrikes on southern Lebanon continued Tuesday, killing at least eight people, while Hezbollah fired drones at IDF targets in southern Lebanon, with two crossing over into northern Israel. Hezbollah said Tuesday it fired antitank missiles at IDF soldiers who were pushing into southern Lebanon, while Israel said one soldier was killed in southern Lebanon Monday. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Tuesday that the death toll of Israeli strikes had reached 3,468 people.
