Image Source: American Statesman Everything this nation once stood for is being turned on its head. We are being asked—no, told—to believe that the greatest threat to America today is not government overreach, endless war, corruption, surveillance, or the steady erosion of constitutional rights. No, the real threat, it seems, is speech. Dangerous speech. Hateful speech. Critical speech. Speech that dares to challenge power. In the wake of the reported assassination attempt on President Trump, the Trump administration has wasted no time advancing a dangerous narrative: that criticism of the president—especially criticism labeling him authoritarian or fascist—is not just wrong,…
A ceasefire to the Iran War entered its 25th day Saturday, one day after President Donald Trump notified Congress that the U.S. military actions against Iran “that began on February 28, 2026, have terminated.” Trump’s letter comes as U.S. servicemembers remain stationed in the region and a negotiated settlement to end the war has yet to be signed. It was reported on Friday that the Trump administration has added Nick Stewart, a lobbying executive at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies affiliate FDD Action, to U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff’s office and negotiating team. Iran has conditioned its participation in a…
Self-checkout machines are in the crosshairs. In recent months, numerous states and localities have considered legislation to curtail the use of automated checkout in grocery stores. These bills are often positioned as part of an effort to cut down on retail theft, but it appears the driving force behind them is to create more unionized jobs. According to USA Today, at least six states have considered rules that would restrict self-checkout machines. The states range from blue Connecticut to red Ohio, but it doesn’t stop there. Two cities in California already have self-checkout limits in place, while New York City is currently considering restrictions…

Tricia S. Lindsay, attorney for plaintiff Sai Malena Jimenez-Fogarty, responded to two motions to dismiss by filing a pair of memoranda of law that cited to numerous nonexistent cases. In response, the Court ordered Lindsay to show cause why she should not be sanctioned for her misleading filings. Upon consideration of Lindsay’s response to these orders, we find that she should be sanctioned in the amount of $2,500.00 …. [T]wo briefs were signed by Lindsay, and each contained a number of fabricated citations. When we say “fabricated,” we do not mean citations that arguably contain typographical errors—for example, Lindsay’s citations…
Christoph Dumaux as Caesar in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Photo Nancy Jesse. He came, he saw, he conquered. Then he went—first to the New World, before returning to the Old. His victories began in England: this invincible hero of the operatic stage—Handel’s Giulio Cesare as staged by David McVicar. The director was subsequently knighted by Queen Elizabeth, not least for his breakthrough at Glyndebourne Opera in the summer of 2005. The production is said to be the most successful in the history of that famous festival. Over the next years, McVicar’s Giulio Cesare invaded the Lyric…

Having the Southern Poverty Law Center label you, a black woman, as an ‘apologist for white supremacy,’ it sort of makes you like kryptonite for any universities that would be looking to hire you, Carol Swain told JNS. Source link

Violence is not always justified, but there is always a reason why it happens. Western pundits, politicians and newscasters will very seldom tell you what those reasons are unless it advances the interests of the western empire. Reading by Tim Foley: One common feature of western empire propaganda is that we are always given reasons for the empire’s violence, while the violence of those who resist the empire tends to be framed as happening for no reason at all. We’ve all been fed reasons for the US-Israeli war on Iran, and we all know what those reasons are. Even less-informed…
