A U.K. jury is mulling the case of four protesters who raided Wolverhampton arms factory said to produce “military aircraft parts for Israel,” John McEvoy reports. A jury at Birmingham crown court is deliberating whether four pro-Palestine activists committed criminal damage at an arms factory in Wolverhampton. Defendants Iain Evans, Hisham Alkhamesi, Frank Sherman and Hana Yun-Stevens believed the factory, used by arms firm Moog, supplied weaponry to Israel. They climbed onto the roof in August 2025, smashed equipment and unveiled a banner saying “Free Palestine” while wearing T-shirts with the names of Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes. Conservation and public health groups filed a formal notice on Thursday, May 28, with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to force the agency to develop water-quality standards for atrazine, a pesticide linked to cancer, according to the groups. This week, editors Peter Suderman, Katherine Mangu-Ward, and Nick Gillespie are joined by Sarah Isgur, senior editor at The Dispatch, to discuss Elon Musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire and whether that milestone represents a triumph of capitalism or a warning sign about inequality. The panel examines the political backlash to extreme wealth, the role government subsidies played in Musk’s rise, and whether Americans should be more concerned about how fortunes are made than how large they become. Next, the editors discuss the Supreme Court’s biggest pending decisions, including cases involving birthright citizenship and the Federal Reserve. They also debate Democratic proposals to expand…
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday said the Trump Administration had been targeting him as a “political enemy” through a baseless Department of Justice investigation. Newsom accused President Donald Trump of “coming after me because I am considering running for President.”Newsom said that family members, friends, and former employees had been approached in recent days by federal agents. Newsom also alleged that the administration was investigating his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. The alleged investigation follows Trump’s nomination of Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, to head the DOJ following the departure in April of Pam Bondi. Blanche has overseen indictments…
President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that his administration has “cut” by 97% “the flow” of illegal drugs entering the U.S. “by water, by ocean and sea.” But available federal data do not support that claim. There is no comprehensive data on the total amount of drugs trafficked to the U.S., including how much authorities don’t capture. Without that information, drug policy experts have told us that it’s not possible to know if the president’s claim is accurate. “[W]e do not know the true amount of drugs coming into the country because we don’t know the amount that comes in…
The United Kingdom announced on Monday that it will become the second country to ban social media for children 15 and younger. Speaking at a press conference, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “Government is always about choices, and it’s clear to me that a full ban is the right choice.” “Every parent can see it with their own eyes. Social media is making children unhappy. It’s making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them,” Starmer added. “And it could even be harming their mental health, exposing them to content that is dangerous because that’s what grabs their attention.…
