“It’s not America First to let the Democrats take the House and take the Senate, which would very much hamper Trump’s last two years in office,” Hemingway said. “It should be taken as a big priority for Republican leaders.
“Handing our country over to these radical Democrats is very dangerous, and it should be taken as just as serious a national security issue as the Iranian issue.”
STUART VARNEY, FOX BUSINESS NETWORK: A poll shows most people are not pleased with trump’s handling of Iran. Have voters soured on Trump and the war? Is it hurting the GOP’s chances in the midterms?
MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: The polls are somewhat consistent among several different pollsters that many Republicans do support Trump in how he’s handling the war, there are these majorities of Americans who feel differently. So obviously, it’s going to be a major issue for the midterms, and I assume Trump understands that, which is probably why he keeps talking about wanting to wrap things up very quickly.
VARNEY: The DNC has refused to take a stance on supporting Israel. As an outsider looking in, it seems like the party has abandoned Jewish voters. What say you to that?
HEMINGWAY: I think there are problems with anti-Semitism, particularly on the left, in many cases, but I don’t really think that the country is in danger of abandoning Israel.
It’s also true that voters in both parties care a lot about who is focused on them, who is focused on their economic prospects, and who is working to help the country. The party that does the best job there will have great success in the future.
VARNEY: Has the left—the far left, I should say—taken over the Democratic Party?
HEMINGWAY: It’s really amazing how much control the far left has, given how toxic it is for the average voter. But that’s why they keep saying people like Abigail Spanberger, who has turned out to be unbelievably radical in Virginia as governor—they keep claiming she’s a moderate. That’s how they helped her get elected. The media and Democrats helped to get her elected.
VARNEY: Are there any signs that voters in the country do not like the far left and its constant demands to tax the rich and open the border, or whatever? Is the country behind this?
HEMINGWAY: Sometimes it seems like the best gift each party is given is the problems in the other party. By that standard, the radicalism of the left, of the Democrats, is very helpful to Republicans.
But it’s also true that handing our country over to these radical Democrats is very dangerous, and it should be taken as just as serious a national security issue, just like the Iranian issue.
