Location of discovery: Mars, Sol 693 Spirit rover
The Spirit rover has taken a photo of an long slithery animal as it crossed over the top of a flat rock on the surface of Mars. The creature has no arms or legs but only a long body…that would closely resemble a small garden snake on Earth. The animal measures about half a meter and this is 100% exactly what we might see in the desert on Earth. Snakes can withstand incredible temperatures. It would of course hunt other creatures to eat to allow it to get its water and nutrients from its food. The real mystery…what does it hunt?
