Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), one of the seven GOP senators who voted to remove President Donald Trump from office following the January 6 Capitol riot, lost his primary Saturday night. The Trump-endorsed candidate, Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA), will face State Treasurer John Fleming in a runoff on June 27 for the party’s nomination.

“It’s nice to see that his political career is OVER,” the president posted on Truth Social last night. Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) reiterated on Meet the Press this morning, “If you try to destroy President Trump, you’re gonna lose, because this is the party of Donald Trump.”
Last night’s primary results are the latest in a string of victories for Trump in GOP primaries, including the ousting of five of the seven Indiana Republicans who rebuffed the president’s calls for redistricting in the state.

Trump cited the victory over Cassidy in a series of attacks this morning on Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) who faces a high stakes primary on Tuesday. The president called for “Kentucky [to] get this LOSER out of politics.” Massie’s House primary has become the most expensive in American history.
