|
| As the conflict In Iraq grinds on and we are bombarded with sound bites from the fools on the hill claiming victory is essential and any thing less is defeat and therefore unacceptable. This is the line of reasoning the USSR used in Afghanistan; The USSR persisted in the face of resistance from indigenous civilians and from militants funded by the US....Full Story |

America’s ambivalence to child soldiers
|
|
“It is immoral that adults should want children to fight their wars for them. There is simply no excuse, no acceptable argument for arming children.” -- Archbishop Desmond Tutu But arm them they do. The first wide-scale use of child soldiers occurred during the Iran-Iraq war, in the 1980s....Full Story |

American Culture, Religious Practice: How “faithful patriots” honor Widows and Soldiers |
| This weekend’s reports in two major New England newspapers brought some insight to misbegotten wars, detailing current events in Iraq and remembrance of Vietnam. Still, I hunger for more direct challenges to the current war—ones that expose its institutional supports like our cultural and religious bias in support of war and its aims....Full Story |

G.W.B & G.O.D. |
| David Limbaugh, in his latest column, published at Townhall-com, asks: "Why does it make so many on the Left uncomfortable that President Bush openly professes his reliance on God in performing his official duties?"
I would have liked to take a shot at answering that question but Limbaugh himself, in his last paragraph, does a wonderful job of explaining; while summing up Bush's critics philosophy he says: " (they feel that) Christians are unstable, science-averse simpletons so weak they have to rely on a fictitious savior ....Full Story |

The Gay marriage debate is not about morality, it's about money!
|
| Some politicians on the left and the right would argue that there are virtually no differences between same sex civil unions and marriages. You have to just love the word “virtually. It means “almost entirely” or “for all practical purposes”. For political purposes, “virtually” sounds much neater than “almost entirely”....Full Story |

Terrorism: Is Britain next?
|
| As the recent Madrid terrorist bombings shattered the world, we have to ask ourselves; have the terrorists won? UVVA: Fetus', Embryos and Zygotes . . . Oh My!
|
| On April 1st, President Bush signed the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (UVVA) into law, making it a Federal crime to kill or harm a fetus during the commission of a Federal level crime such as a terrorist act.
No, this was not an April Fools prank.
On the surface, in fact, the UVVA seems like (forgive me, Martha) a 'good thing....Full Story |

Bush Distances himself from Cheney |
| President Harry S. Truman had a sign on his desk that said "The Buck Stops Here." What the hell did he know - since he was merely a democrat. Americans speak of ruling the world?
Not Even! |
| We, the most decadent nation the world has ever witnessed, where the profligate, indebted, barely literate adults are being laid-off by the millions now, we call ourselves the best. With record bankruptcies, record indebtedness and general malaise impregnates the entire nation, we speak of ruling the world. We, who place before the children we have brought into the world a steady TV diet, call ourselves virtuous. We, Americans, speak of rebuilding the entire Middle East?...Full Story |
